Our Green Story
Our green story
Here at AberGlamping we are passionate about the environment and endeavor to reduce our carbon footprint and make our business as sustainable as possible. Aiming to reduce waste, protect our wildlife and work with our community and local producers.
AberGlamping is a new glamping business based on a traditional Welsh family farm. We have chosen to keep the site small (four units) to ensure there is very little impact on the local environment. We take our responsibility for the environments seriously and have measures in place to ensure that our sustainable tourism venture has minimum impact on our beautiful site here in the Brecon Beacons.

Energy use:
-All lighting is either powered by solar or USB rechargeable.
-We have alternative renewable energy sources in the farm: solar panels, biomass boiler and a micro hydro system. Any surplus energy is exported back to the grid.
-We provide limited outdoor lighting to avoid light pollution and keep the site looking as natural as possible.
Supplies and materials:
-You can buy locally sourced products in our on site shop, We buy from local suppliers when we can.
-We use cleaning products that are phosphate-free and packaged in biodegradable materials.
-We make bulk orders of cleaning products to reduce road miles and packaging, refilling bottles rather than providing new.
-We use eco washing powder to wash our sheets and towels.
-We provide locally sources firewood and environmentally safe ‘woodcycle’ firelighters which are made from recycled wood, wax and plastic free paper.
-Where possible, our interior and exterior furniture, fixtures and fittings are handmade, up-cycled or re-cycled.
Training:
-All staff at AberGlamping are aware of our commitment to being environmentally friendly.
Travel:
-We have an electric car charging facility, and our own vehicle is low-carbon emitting.
-We encourage visitors to explore the local area, farm and promote walks from the farm for all abilities.
-Visitors are encouraged to travel to us in as few cars as possible and additional cars are charged an additional fee.
-We promote local businesses: shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants.
Waste:
-Each accommodation unit has its own recycling bins. Visitors are encouraged to recycle paper and card, cans, plastic, glass and food waste.
-There is a battery recycling station located in the honesty shop.
-Each dome has access to its own converted vintage trailer bathroom with a shower and dry composting toilet with soak away.
-Each of our bins is twinned via tearfund.org. They support recycling projects in Africa.
